Energy Play merges traditional and contemporary forms of qigong from a wide range of origins in order to demystify the work and introduce and deepen understanding. The key principles of the work are: · Observation without judgment is key to understanding the way we respond to different forms. · In order to deepen our knowledge of Qigong it is important to approach the work with an open mind and integrate what we learn into our own individual experience. · Approaching the same work from different angles provides a deeper understanding of the profound wisdom that lies at the core of your personal practice. · Qigong brings up a range of emotions, as such it is as important to find fun and laughter in the work, as it is to find depth and stillness. · Everybody is different and we should embrace our uniqueness and be allowed to express it in the way we practice.
Using these principles, the classes and workshops explore: · Chinese Five Element Theory — The energies that run through the acupuncture meridians relate to the elements Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire. By using techniques that isolate these energies we can become familiar with the effect each element has on the body and enhance the balance of these internal energies. · Internal Alchemy — The energies that reside in the main body cavities (Jing in the abdomen, Chi in the chest and Shen in the head) are closely related. By working to enhance and balance these energies we can explore the vast potential of the Taoist practices. · Animal Transformations — Although obscured by the mists of time, the origins of qigong appear to be in the observation and replication of animal movements in order to gain the benefits of the animals abilities. Exploring these animal based forms it is possible to combine the benefits of the five element practices with internal alchemical work and access a rich source of healing and understanding. · Higher Vibrational energies — In addition to the internal work, a range of forms have evolved that draw external energies into the body. The exploration and practice of these forms deepens our understanding of the energies that surround us and provides a tool with which to replenish and heal ourselves. · Spontaneous Movement — One of the most advanced and powerful forms of qigong, this advanced practice utilizes the insubstantial nature of the physical body to respond to and express the individuals energetic requirements.
